Story
End of July into early August 2025 was the classic up-north stretch, starting at the cottage in Eagle River, Wisconsin. Typical cottage things: outside until the kids ran out of gas, Eagles Wings for the obligatory t-shirts, and a stop at Peanuts - the newer ice cream place with Chocolate Shoppe ice cream. We are very pro-Peanuts.
Then we hopped over to Mackinac Island so I could do a relay swim around it. Nothing fancy - just the relay. I swam a couple miles across my legs while the rest of the family rode bikes the whole way around. The island is car-free: bikes, horses, fudge shops, and water cold enough to make you question your life choices mid-stroke.
